Job Summary

Deliver instruction using provided lesson plans across subjects and grade levels while maintaining a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment. Implement school-wide behavior systems, monitor academic progress, and collaborate with teachers to grade assignments and provide feedback. Accurately submit daily attendance, communicate professionally with families regarding student updates, and perform campus supervision duties including arrival, lunch, and dismissal. Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development while supporting testing and school events. This role ensures continuity of learning in the absence of regular classroom teachers across KIPP Texas campuses.

Required Qualifications

  • 60+ credited hours
  • Associates degree
  • Reliable transportation is needed for travel between campuses
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions
  • The person in this position needs to be able to move about inside and outside the school throughout the workday
  • The candidate is expected to attend conferences, meetings and training sessions both virtually and in person within the Region
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different classrooms, subjects, and grade levels
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain a structured, respectful, and productive learning environment
  • Skill in effectively implementing lesson plans across multiple subjects and grade levels
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication with students, staff, and families
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, including attendance, grading, and transitions, in a timely manner
  • Works effectively with teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure continuity of instruction
  • Ability to motivate and engage students in learning while maintaining high expectations
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and decision-making in classroom and student situations
  • Ensures accuracy in attendance, grading, and documentation
  • Proficiency in using classroom technology, learning management systems, and student information systems
  • Maintains reliability, punctuality, confidentiality, and adherence to school policies and procedures

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred, but not required)
  • Prior classroom or substitute teaching experience preferred
