Permanency Specialist (3E Counties)

Job Summary
Monitor the care of abused and neglected children in Collin, Grayson, Fannin, Hunt, Rockwall, Ellis, Kaufman, and Navarro Counties while working with parents, extended family, and legal parties to secure permanent, safe placements. Recruit, train, study, and license foster and adoptive homes, then conduct monthly visits to assess safety, discuss needs, and plan for permanency. Meet with parents to assess risks, refer them to services, and discuss behavioral changes required for child safety. Collaborate with the Placement Team, kinship staff, and attorneys to prepare for court hearings, testify on case progress, and ensure families receive necessary support. Transition children home during reunification or supervise adoptive placements until finalization, maintaining timely documentation of all case records.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, in a human services field
- Two years experience working within human services
- Ability to travel locally, within the region, and out of state, as needed, to best support clients and client needs
- Must maintain confidentiality and follow policies related to personnel records and client records
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs

- Ability to assess current life situations of children to determine the presence of child abuse or neglect
- Ability to articulate an understanding of the intersection between race and poverty and the different outcomes and conditions that exist among specific groups as compared to other groups due to unequal treatment of services
- Ability to negotiate available services
- Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports
