Job Summary
Perioperative Services Technician assists physicians and conducts patient procedural care as directed by the RN. Responsibilities include patient transport to and from the department (ambulating, wheelchair, stretcher); prepping patients for endoscopy, pain management and outpatient procedures; obtaining vital signs and preprocedural information; starting IVs when competency is established; anticipating equipment and supplies needs; transporting specimens to pathology; performing post-procedural duties, monitoring post-procedure safety after conscious sedation, reinforcing discharge instructions, restocking endoscopy, and providing comfort. Requires knowledge of growth and development from infants to geriatrics. Education: High School Diploma or GED; experience: one year in healthcare; certify with SGNA, CNA, or EMT license; BLS within 90 days of hire. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of experience in the healthcare field
- SGNA Certification (Society of Gastroenterology Nurses & Associates) or CNA License or EMT License
- BLS Certificate within 90 days of hire
