Job Summary
Clean and disinfect operating rooms and associated surgical areas, preparing spaces for procedures while maintaining a safe, sanitary environment. Stock supplies, organize equipment carts, and manage inventory control systems under the direction of the Nurse Manager. Perform assigned duties to assist nursing staff in safe, efficient patient care delivery, utilizing protective clothing and standard precautions. Requires a high school diploma or GED, basic housekeeping knowledge, and ability to stand for extended periods. Multilingual skills are preferred for patient populations served.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or a state high school equivalency (GED)
- Ability to read, write and understand specific instructions in English
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to push/pull carts of instruments and/or equipment
- Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 and flu, as well as receive a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine
- Must complete a background check before beginning employment
- Must be available for 40 hours, Day/Evening, Every 3rd Weekend schedule
Desired Qualifications
- Additional training beyond high school
- Working knowledge of basic housekeeping and cleaning procedures, particularly as it relates to the surgical area
- Multilingual skills (beyond that of English) in languages appropriate to the patient populations served by Boston Medical Center
