Job Summary

Maintain sterile field awareness and gather necessary supplies for ophthalmic procedures according to the surgical schedule. Prepare the operating room, open supplies following sterile technique, and assist staff with opening and closing protocols. Move equipment as needed, assist with patient positioning, and return used instrumentation to decontamination areas following proper protocol. Collaborate with instrument processing to obtain sterile items and assist with inventory processes for ordering and stocking supplies. Work in conjunction with team members to ensure documentation accuracy for instrument tracking and quality assurance. Perform duties in a fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail, multitasking, and excellent organizational skills.

  • Sterile field awareness
  • Experience in the healthcare field
  • Intermediate level computer skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • BLS certification
  • Normal range of vision and hearing for patient contact
  • Ability to move patients on stretchers and wheelchairs who may weigh 300+ pounds
  • Manual dexterity to operate variety of medical equipment
  • Ability to move physically from floor to floor
  • Ability to lift over 20 pounds
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision regarding time management
  • Ability to consistently make sound, ethical decisions in emergency situations
  • Demonstrated ability to make accurate assessments while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within the organization
  • Know and follow all safety rules and procedures
  • Follow proper Workplace Ergonomics
  • Report any unsafe act or workplace conditions
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance
