Job Summary
Perfusion Specialist role focusing on ex vivo perfusions of donated human organs (lungs, liver, kidneys) in a on-site New Haven, CT lab. Responsibilities include preparing organs for perfusion, assisting in surgical benching and dissection, operating clinical-grade perfusion circuits and monitoring systems, collecting and logging biological samples, contributing to translational research by evaluating new therapeutics in human models, maintaining equipment and inventory, documenting procedures precisely, and maintaining a clean, safe, compliant lab. The position requires rotating on-call coverage including weekday and weekend shifts, with a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- Clinical experience (e.g. RN, OR Tech, Surgical PA, Medical Assistant or similar healthcare roles)
- Familiarity with laboratory protocols, POC testing, and handling biohazardous materials
- Strong understanding of sterile technique and safety standards
- Able to work in a dynamic, high-pressure environment independently and on a team
- Comfortable with technology, including MS Office and database entry
- Undergraduate degree in biology, nursing, biomedical science, or a related field
- Excellent physical stamina and attention to detail
