Job Summary
Performance Engineer with 5+ years’ utility-scale PV energy modeling and performance analysis. Responsible for generating accurate PV production models using PVsyst, conducting detailed engineering analyses, supporting plant commissioning, and optimizing projects to maximize returns. Collaborates with Finance, Business Development, and Engineering teams; analyzes weather data, validates inputs, builds soiling/snow models, and prepares high-quality performance reports. Proficient in PV performance tools (PVsyst, PVcase), CAD, 8760 calculations, and programming (Python/Excel VBA). Knowledge of module technologies, trackers, and energy storage is a plus. Hybrid role based in Houston with occasional travel; remote consideration for strong candidates.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (or related technical field)
- 5+ years of experience in PV solar plant energy modeling or performance engineering
- Proficiency with PVsyst and near-shading analysis tools
- Experience with 8760 energy calculations and CAD/modeling for solar facilities
- Strong Excel/MS Office skills; programming ability (Python, Java or similar) is a plus
- Understanding of PV module technologies, inverters, trackers, and DC/AC electrical systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong communication skills
- Experience with commissioning and performance testing of solar plants
