Job Summary
Conduct manual and automated performance testing, manage defects, and troubleshoot platform hardware, scalability, and application profiling issues for Java EE solutions. Provide guidance and consultation to architects, developers, and operations personnel on designing high-performing applications, reviewing code for best practices, and tuning Apache, WebSphere, and Linux/Aix servers. Analyze MQ Series, NoSQL, and database performance while partnering with onshore and offshore teams to enforce testing standards and drive delivery of scalable products. Deliver weekly status updates and presentations to stakeholders regarding progress and performance discipline across the software development lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced Java EE Systems Engineer
- Extensive experience with platform performance
- Willingness to take ownership for platform performance from inception to delivery
- Support for complex financial platforms in production
- Advanced technical knowledge
- Ability to dig deep and uncover smallest detail around performance issues
- Fluency in Java EE Architecture
- Guidance/consultation/testing with respect to engineering Java software for performance
- Aligning infrastructure configurations for best overall performance
- Provide guidance and testing services to architects, developers, operations personnel, network personnel
- Helping teams design and develop high performing Java applications
- Predictable platform design with respect to capacity
- Lead performance discipline throughout software development lifecycle
- Analyze business requirements and customer preferences
- Recommend best performance practices
- Work with various application delivery teams
- Share technical acumen with DEV, operations and testing resources
- Measure, test, and design
- Inspect and drive delivery of high performing/high scalable Java EE solutions
- Agile methodology
- Conduct both manual and automated performance testing
- Manage performance defects
- Troubleshoot performance issues covering platform hardware analysis
- Scalability analysis
- Application profiling (JVM, Databases, etc)
- Partner with operations teams
- Bridge the gap between understanding of software and infrastructure
- Knowledge around performance
- Find better and more efficient ways to help assure quality and scale platforms
- Meeting customer needs
- Production Performance Analysis and Tuning of Java EE products/platforms
- Create Performance Test Plans for products
- Perform release and software patch performance testing for the Fraud Product Suite in the Fraud dedicated performance environment
- Perform Java EE Code reviews to assure code is adhering to best performance practices
- Assist with performance related problem resolutions
- Tune Apache, WebSeals, JBoss/Websphere applications
- Tune Linux/Aix servers for best performance
- Provide instructions for tuning Infrastructure and software for the best performance
- Work with both onshore and offshore talent to complete performance related tasks
- Analyze MQ Series and iLog related performance issues
- Analyze Gemfire NoSQL and Oracle/Postgres database related performance issues
- Must have good communication skills
- Adhere to and enforce consistent company and department testing standards and procedures
- Experience with Splunk, Dynatrace, StormRunner/LoadRunner or Jmeter/Gatlin
- Good understanding of load balancing, expiration headers, compression, CDNs, etc
- Good understanding of TCP/IP sockets, TCP Slowstart/congestion
- Good understanding of Java EE performance design patterns and anti-patterns
- Experience with AWS, Azure, Pivotal Cloud Foundry or Google Cloud
