Job Summary
Perform standard and complex echocardiography, including stress echo, TEE, and vascular testing, under the direction of the supervisor or director. Utilize professional judgment to adapt imaging procedures, select appropriate transducers, and adjust equipment controls to ensure quality diagnostic outcomes. Coordinate echocardiography equipment operations to obtain and record two-dimensional and M-mode heart presentations, while documenting patient and exam occurrences in PACS/RIS. Recognize significant clinical information from patient records, assess contraindicating factors, and report immediate patient reactions or equipment problems to the supervisor. Maintain assigned areas and equipment in clean condition, comply with CDC hand hygiene guidelines, and contribute to departmental goals for IP exam turnaround and patient satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration and licensure by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or Certificate from accredited Echocardiography program
- BLS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Ability to safely lift and physically manipulate patients
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to analyze and apply theory to practice skills
- Standing and walking for periods of 2 hours or longer
- Concentration, visual and auditory acuity for watching monitors and following instructions during procedures
- Lifting equipment up to 50lbs, pushing equipment up to 150lbs, and assisting with the movement of an adult patient weighing up to 300lbs
