Job Summary
Prepare procedure rooms, equipment, and supplies for vascular access procedures. Position and prepare patients while maintaining comfort and safety, then establish and maintain a sterile field throughout each case. Scrub in to assist physicians by anticipating needs and passing instruments, while monitoring the sterile field and communicating any breaks in technique. Perform surgical counts of needles, sponges, and instruments, track medications and supplies, and operate sterilization and diagnostic equipment per protocol. Clean, disinfect, and restock rooms after cases, transport patients as needed, and assist with scheduling and discharge. Maintain accurate documentation safeguarding patient confidentiality and participate in community education initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook and Word.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced procedural environment.
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure while maintaining a high standard of patient care.
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum one-year Surgical Technology certificate or diploma with coursework in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, microbiology, medical terminology, surgical instrumentation, and sterilization techniques.
- Associate degree from a CAAHEP-accredited program.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential or certification through AST or NCCT.
- At least one year of operating room or surgical technologist experience.
