Job Summary
Collect blood specimens using venipuncture, skin puncture, and heel sticks while verifying requisitions and maintaining patient identity. Process non-blood samples like urine and sputum, then access and prepare specimens for laboratory testing. Perform waived or moderately complex testing, run quality control reports, and troubleshoot lab instruments. Assist with specimen processing, clerical duties, and reception tasks while adhering to safety protocols and policies.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Access to reliable transportation
- Valid US driver's license
- Must be available for flexible shifts including weekdays or weekends
- Must be available for 'as needed' basis work
- Must be available for coverage of other sites if needed
- Must be available for business hours between 8am - 6pm
- Must pass a drug test before beginning employment
Desired Qualifications
- Graduation from a Phlebotomy Technical Training Program
- Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification
- 1+ years of Phlebotomy experience
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Knowledge of medical terminology obtained through previous medical practice experience (up to 1 year)
- Proficiency in the use of Lab Information Systems (LIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Proven solid interpersonal skills and customer service orientation
