Job Summary
Collaborate with the surgeon and healthcare team to perform safe obstetric operations with optimal patient outcomes. Assist in positioning, prepping, and draping the patient; provide hemostasis through clamping, coagulation, and ligation. Manage exposure using instruments, retractors, and suctioning while observing the operative field. Handle tissue as directed, including suturing the peritoneum, fascia, subcutaneous tissue, and skin. Clean the wound, apply surgical dressings, affix and stabilize drains, and assist in transferring the patient from the operating room. Requires NYS certification, DEA license, and BCLS; live within 30 minutes of the hospital campus. Call shifts are 12 or 24 hours.
Required Qualifications
- Must live within 30 minutes of the hospital campus
- NYS certification/registration as a Physician Assistant
- NYS Licensure and current Registration required
- DEA license required
- BCLS certification required
- Able to gain appropriate FFTH privileges required
- Graduation from an AMA approved school as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with RNFA certification required
- Meets continuing education requirements of the applicable discipline board
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in an operating room preferred
