Job Summary
Provide comprehensive nursing care, diagnose illness, and perform therapeutic measures for the inpatient hematology/oncology patient population within a collaborative practice agreement. Monitor cost effectiveness, evaluate treatment plans, and prescribe medications, medical equipment, and home health services per practice protocols. Order diagnostic studies, perform physical examinations, and formulate care plans with attending physicians to maximize quality and cost-effective outcomes. Collaborate with nursing leadership, interdisciplinary teams, and family members to ensure continuity of care across home care and other facilities. Maintain current expertise, educate peers, and participate in research protocols and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration as Professional Nurse in New York
- Registration as Nurse Practitioner in New York
- Master's Degree in Nursing
- Certification by ANCC or Board Certification from other specialty organization that certifies Nurse Practitioners in a clinical area of practice
- Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association
- Registered Nurse License-NYS
- Nurse Practitioner-NYS
- Advanced Life Support certification (ACLS, PALS) through the American Heart Association or Neonatal Resuscitation certification (NRP) through the American Academy of Pediatrics
Desired Qualifications
- At least five years of clinical nursing practice in the care of the patient population served
