Job Summary
Perform medically prescribed nuclear medicine procedures under general supervision, verifying patient identity, obtaining consent, and administering radiopharmaceuticals per established protocols. Operate gamma cameras and related imaging systems to acquire, process, and evaluate diagnostic images, then format and transmit data to PACS. Prepare and verify radiopharmaceutical doses, handle radioactive materials safely, and conduct contamination surveys while adhering to all radiation safety and regulatory requirements. Monitor patients during procedures, troubleshoot technical issues, and document imaging workflows in hospital and radiology information systems. Adapt to flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, or on-call coverage. Provide guidance and supervision to students during clinical training.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or Certificate from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
- New York State Radiologic Technologist License in Nuclear Medicine
- ARRT in Nuclear Medicine or NMTCB Certification
- current New York State Nuclear Medicine Technologist License
- certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine (ARRT-N)
- certification from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
- BLS Certification
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or move patients and equipment (up to 150 lbs., with or without assistive devices)
- Prolonged standing and walking
- Exposure to radioactive materials (with appropriate safety controls)
- Flexible scheduling, including potential evenings, weekends, or on-call coverage
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a Bachelors Degree or baccalaureate degree in nuclear medicine technology
