Job Summary
Review patient prescriptions and safety forms, obtain consents, and verify identity against wristbands before administering MRI procedures under radiologist direction. Access appointment data and reports via HIS/RIS systems, schedule exams from the order queue, and document begin, complete, and departure times per departmental policy. Position patients and adjust coils for maximum image quality, explain procedures to ease anxiety, and maintain patient privacy throughout the exam. Perform equipment setup, maintenance checks, and quality control, while solving technical problems and altering protocols to maximize diagnostic information. Handle STAT cases by modifying schedules and recognize medical emergencies to notify staff immediately.
Required Qualifications
- Technical Diploma Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiology or Imaging Services
- New York State Radiologic Technologist License within 180 days of hire
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Advanced Certification in MRI required within one (1) year of hire
- Strong communication (both written and oral), problem solving, and customer service skills
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
