Job Summary
Provide personal care and support to hospice patients under the supervision of an RN, including bathing, mobility assistance, meal preparation, feeding, vital signs, skin care, and observation of patient condition. Maintain cleanliness and order of the patient’s living area, document care activities per plan of care, communicate effectively with patients, families, and the Interdisciplinary Group, and participate in quality assessment and performance improvement activities. Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in good standing and hold a current Home Health Aide (HHA) certification in California, with at least 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training, a valid driver’s license, willingness to undergo background checks, and current CPR certification. Flexible in work hours to meet patient needs in hospice care.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in good standing
- California regulation: must be a CNA in good standing and must have a current Home Health Aide (HHA) certification in good standing in the State of California
- Minimum of 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training
- Licensed driver with automobile insured in accordance with organization/state requirements
- Willingness to submit to a criminal background check prior to hire and annually thereafter
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to read and follow written instructions
- Understanding of hospice philosophy and comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill
