Job Summary
Provide personal care and assist with daily activities for hospice patients under RN supervision, including bathing, meals, mobility, medication reminders within state regulations, vital signs, skin care, and documentation of plan of care; communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team; perform light housekeeping and transportation-related tasks as needed; maintain a safe and compassionate home environment and participate in quality/performance improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- California regulations require CNA in good standing and HHA certification in good standing in CA
- Minimum 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training
- Licensed driver with automobile
- Willingness to submit to criminal background check
- Current CPR certification
- Understanding of hospice philosophy and care for terminally ill patients
- Ability to read and follow written instructions
- Ability to work autonomously with little direct supervision
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Flexible in work hours to ensure patient care as per plan of care
- Empathy for ill/injured/frail patients
- Calm demeanor in patient homes
