Job Summary
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of registration requirements for Main Admitting, OP, ED, Maternity, and Rehabilitation units. Ensure complete, accurate, and timely entry of demographic information into the ADT system, verifying patient identity to prevent duplicate medical record numbers. Review assigned accounts for accuracy and required documentation, collecting and entering financial data to ensure appropriate reimbursement. Properly identify all forms requiring patient or guarantor signatures and obtain them, while scanning documents into appropriate systems. Follow EMTALA-compliant registration steps for Emergency Department and Labor and Delivery areas, including special cases such as 5150, SART, domestic violence, and child protective services. Assess self-pay patients for presumptive eligibility and initiate the process as applicable.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 2+ years of experience working in a hospital Patient Registration department, physician office setting, healthcare insurance company, revenue cycle vendor, and/or other revenue cycle related role
- 2+ years of experience in understanding insurance policies and procedures, both commercial and government
- 1+ years of experience in requesting and processing financial payments
- 1+ years of experience working in medical terminology
- Intermediate level of computer proficiency
- Ability to work shift times of 4:00 PM - 2:30 AM, 6:00 PM - 4:30 AM, and 8:00 PM - 6:30 AM per business need
- Ability to work on-site at our Emergency Department at 1420 S Central Ave., Glendale CA 91204
- Candidates are required to pass a drug test before beginning employment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with MS4 and Cerner
- Knowledge of charity care programs as well as the various government and non-government programs
- Strong knowledge of both government and commercial insurances
- Bilingual fluency
