Job Summary

Required Qualifications

• •Must be experienced RN Dialysis for at least 1 year
• •Current appropriate state licensure
• •Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
• •Entry level for RNs with minimum 2 years or more of Nephrology Nursing experience in the last 2 years as a RN
• •Must be able to lift 50 lbs
• •Must be able to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs as high as 5 feet
• •Must be able to move, with assistance, machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs
• •Must be able to bend over
• •Must be able to stand for prolonged periods
• •Must be able to travel to training/meeting sites and between assigned facilities
• •Must be available for on-call rotation
• •Must be available for night shifts
• •Must be available for weekend shifts
• •Must be available for holiday shifts
• •Must be able to work in a health care facility environment
• •Must be able to be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials
• •Must be able to perform essential functions in other locations
• •Must be able to take the Ishihara's Color Blindness test
• •Must be able to complete CAP requirements to maintain or advance
• •Must be able to successfully complete all FKC education and modality specific training requirements
• •Must be able to work under the direction of the Supervisor
• •Must be able to work with the guidance from the Educator, Preceptor, or in collaboration with another Registered Nurse
• •Must be able to perform all essential functions of this position in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, standards of nursing practice, applicable contractual service agreements, state and federal regulations
• •Must be able to perform ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre – during – post treatment for assigned patients and documents in the patient medical record
• •Must be able to make adjustments or modifications to treatment plan as indicated and notifies Supervisor, Physician, patient's primary nurse and others as indicated
• •Must be able to assess, collaborate and documents patient/family's basic learning needs to provide initial and ongoing education to patients and family
• •Must be able to recognize aspects and implications of patient status that vary from normal and reports to or collaborates with appropriate health team members for input including but not limited to Supervisor, appropriate physician, and the contracted facility/primary Nurse
• •Must be able to direct and provide safe effective patient care for assigned patients as prescribed for all modality specific treatment procedures
• •Must be able to assess daily assigned patient care needs and collaborates with direct and ancillary patient care staff as needed
• •Must be able to initiate and coordinates communication with FKC and Non-FKC dialysis providers and appropriate contracted facility personnel as needed to provide continuity of patient care
• •Must be able to perform the implementation, administration, monitoring, and documentation of patient's response to prescribed intradialytic transfusions, including appropriate notification of adverse reactions to physician and appropriate blood supplier
• •Must be able to administer medications as prescribed and documents medical justification and effectiveness
• •Must be able to initiate and assists with emergency response measures
• •Must be able to serve as a resource, leader, coach, mentor and role model for new and incumbent employees by setting examples of appropriate behavior, work habits and attitudes towards patients, co-workers, Supervisors and the company at the facility and area level
• •Must be able to provide specialized nursing care instructions to hospital/facility staff as stipulated contractually
• •Must be able to assist in an Outpatient facility on an as needed basis
• •Must be able to serve as a Preceptor to new employees
• •Must be able to provide essential functions of this position in other locations with the same physical demands and working conditions as described above
• •Must be able to perform desk work
• •Must be able to perform computer work
• •Must be able to interact with patients
• •Must be able to interact with facility/hospital staff and physicians
• •Must be able to work in a drug-free workplace
