People Services Specialist - Abilities and Claims Management (18-month Term)

Job Summary

Coordinate occupational and non-occupational injury claims with providers including WCB, STD, LTD, and MPI. Liaise with medical communities to support claim management and coordinate return-to-work plans for health issues. Provide guidance on disability management, attendance strategies, and employee labor relations issues. Lead the administration, tracking, and documentation of claims while developing prevention-focused programs to improve claims performance. Work closely with employees and leaders to facilitate successful return-to-work programs and provide training on disability and claims management processes. This 18-month term position starts in August 2026 within New Flyer's People & Culture team, supporting sustainable mobility solutions for over 35,000 heavy-duty transit buses.

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, or a related field
  • Certification in Return to Work Coordination, Disability Management, or equivalent experience
  • 2-3 years of HR experience with a focus on employee and labour relations, disability case management and return to work programs
  • Strong working knowledge of HR legislation, employment standards, ability management principles, Occupational Health and Safety, and Worker's Compensation Legislation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, OneNote, and Teams
  • Ability to stay organized in a high-volume environment and shift priorities quickly as needed
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders
