Job Summary
The People Experience Specialist oversees benefits enrollment and compliance for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and ancillary programs, supports 403(b) and health-plan participation, and educates employees on benefits options. The role also leads leave administration (FMLA, OFLA, Oregon Paid Leave), conducts workplace investigations and supports fair resolutions, partners with leadership and vendors to enhance the employee experience, and designs wellness initiatives to improve engagement and retention. Responsibilities include ensuring ERISA/ACA/HIPAA/COBRA compliance, managing unemployment claims, planning open enrollment events, and advising managers on employee relations, performance, and disciplinary processes. Strong competencies include ethical leadership, strategic thinking, compassionate communication, data-driven decision making, and effective benefits advisory. Required qualifications include an associate degree (or 3-5 years HR experience), 3+ years HR experience with benefits administration and investigations, HRIS proficiency, and MS Office skills; preferred qualifications include healthcare/non-profit HR experience and certifications (CBP, PHRS SHRM-CP), with knowledge of ADA, FMLA, OFLA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, and 403(b). This role is office-based with occasional travel and involves interacting with employees and leadership to optimize benefits delivery and employee well-being.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field, or 3-5 years of relevant human resources experience
- 3+ years of experience in HR, with exposure to benefits administration and employee investigations and terminations
- Experience managing HR processes in a compliant and detail-oriented environment
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
