Job Summary
PEO Payroll Specialist I responsible for end-to-end payroll processing for assigned clients across multi-state schedules (weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, monthly). Maintains payroll-related accounts, reconciles data, enters and processes payroll, handles garnishments, maintains W-4/I-9 records, and supports E-Verify. Demonstrates strong client communication to resolve payroll questions and discrepancies, assists with new hire paperwork, and ensures accurate deductions, terminations, and address changes. Requires solid knowledge of payroll systems, timekeeping, DoL/FLSA overtime rules, and confidentiality, with experience in multi-state payroll and client service. Office location is remote in Texas; strong Excel/Word/PowerPoint proficiency and bilingual ability are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in payroll processing, garnishments & general deductions, and W-2 & I-9 maintenance
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
- Bilingual preferred
- Working knowledge of processing job costed and certified payrolls
- Knowledge of time clock systems
- Knowledge of the Department of Labor and Fair Labor Standards Act in regards to payroll and overtime
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Able to sit for long periods of time; sedentary
- Pre-employment screening and workplace policy adherence
- Remote work ability in TX
- W-4 and I-9 maintenance; E-Verify

- Advanced degree a plus
