Job Summary
Direct children and implement curriculum within the Before & After School program for ages 4–12. Supervise the classroom, design daily lesson plans, and maintain constant visual contact with all assigned students. Conduct systematic observations, assess developmental stages, and lead land and water-based activities. Manage program site equipment, maintain records, and communicate effectively with families through conferences and volunteer engagement. Adhere to all safety procedures, YMCA policies, and regulatory requirements while supporting staff meetings and training. Work Monday through Friday, 7:00am–8:45am and 2:45pm–5:00pm, averaging less than 30 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law
- School Age Child Care Clearance per NYS regulations
- At least 18 years of age
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications
- New Employee Orientation and Child Abuse prevention training within 60 days of hire date
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
- Vision, hearing, speech and movement abilities in order to provide safe supervision of children at all times
Desired Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting
- Previous experience with diverse populations
