Peer Support Specialist

Job Summary
Educate and refer clients to community agencies for food, shelter, employment, and social services. Provide peer leadership, outreach, advocacy, coaching, and recovery support services to individuals seeking or sustaining recovery. Assist clients in establishing support systems and function as advocates to improve access to treatment. Participate in clinical staffing decisions and provide supervision to program clients. Support WestCare staff in collaborative community engagement and plan facility recreational activities. This role requires DCF Level II background clearance, a valid driver's license, and bilingual English/Spanish skills. Flexible hours including evenings and weekends are necessary to accommodate client needs.
Required Qualifications
- Lived experience and personal recovery from substance use disorders
- High School diploma or is equivalent
- Must be able to obtain and maintain DCF Level II background clearance
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to obtain and maintain WestCare's vehicle insurance
- Must be able to pass a Level II DCF background check
- CRPS Certification through the Florida Certification Board
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in peer support roles or related positions
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Already have CRPS Certification
