Job Summary
Provide supportive atmosphere for individuals receiving services and deliver supportive level counseling throughout the Emergency Custody Order (ECO) process. Assist individuals in mental health crises by helping them articulate support needs, develop recovery strategies, and model effective coping techniques based on personal recovery experience. Record individual progress and communicate concerns to the treatment team while conducting follow-up outreach via face-to-face meetings or phone contact. Assist individuals within Alleghany Regional Jail and may provide support to recovery court. Valid driver's license and prior recovery experience required; certification within twelve months of hire. Employer match on retirement contributions and PTO leave available.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or GED
- Valid drivers' license and safe driving record
- Must be, or have previously been a recipient of mental health services or substance use disorder services for a mental illness or substance use disorder and should be well along in the recovery process
- Certified Peer Recovery Specialist or willing to obtain within twelve months of hire
