Job Summary
Temporary Peer Support Specialist role supporting the Homeless Services Center. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe environment, screening participants, providing referrals to community resources, coordinating housekeeping duties, utilizing crisis management techniques, completing timely documentation, and making onsite decisions in the absence of the Homeless Services Workers Supervisor. The position involves teamwork, participation in staff trainings, training/mentoring others, coordinating food service and meal donations, addressing maintenance issues, operating day-center laundry equipment, and distributing personal hygiene items. Requires high school diploma or GED; experience navigating homeless, mental health, physical health, and substance abuse services; lived homelessness experience and stable housing; California driver’s license may be required for travel. EO/EEO/Drug-Free Workplace. Pay ranges from 17 to 18 USD per hour (hourly).
Required Qualifications
- High school graduation or GED
- Experience navigating homeless services, mental health services, physical health services, and drug and alcohol services
- Lived experience of homelessness and currently in a stable housing setting
- Valid California driver’s license, current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance may be required for travel
