Job Summary
Use relevant personal stories to assist other consumers and serve as a role model while encouraging consumer voice and choice during plan development. Support consumers by attending team meetings or accompanying them to meetings upon request, empowering them to act as self-advocates. Promote socialization, recovery, and community living skills while helping providers integrate consumer perspectives into systems of care. Complete and maintain documentation of at least six hours of related training annually, submitting records to the department every three years. This part-time role (9-39 hours weekly) involves occasional evening and weekend work, local travel between Journey To Healing locations, and operates in a professional office environment requiring standard equipment use.
Required Qualifications
- Be eighteen (18) years of age or older
- Have a current or past diagnosis of a mental health, substance use, or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
- Have received or be receiving treatment
- Have a minimum educational requirement of a high school diploma or General Equivalence Diploma (GED) certificate
- Demonstrate a pattern of recovery from a mental health, substance use, or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders (a minimum of 24 consecutive months)
- Successfully complete adult peer support specialist training approved by the department or receive a training waiver for this requirement
- Successfully complete, maintain, and submit to the department documentation of a minimum of six (6) hours of related training or education in each subsequent year
