Peer Support Specialist - Mobile Crisis Team (MCT)

Job Summary
Respond to crisis situations in community settings and homes, providing de-escalation, emotional support, and practical assistance to individuals experiencing acute mental health or substance use crises. Share personal lived experiences to inspire hope, assist with initial assessments, and advocate for self-driven recovery pathways while collaborating on short-term goals and safety plans. Answer crisis telephone calls, safely transport individuals, and connect clients with community resources. Maintain accurate client progress notes, perform billing tasks, and attend scheduled team meetings and weekly peer supervision. Work closely with law enforcement and multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective crisis resolution and provide follow-up support. Travel across five core counties including Wabash, Kosciusko, Whitley, Marshall, and Huntington.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- One (1) year of experience providing peer support services
- Certified Peer Support Certification (CPSP), Certified Addiction Peer Recovery Coach Certification (CAPRC) or Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and First Aid certification
- Valid driver's license
- Active auto insurance coverage
- Reliable vehicle
- Satisfactory results from criminal and driving record background checks
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Ability to engage with patients who may become violent
- Ability to participate in physical patient holds using approved techniques
- Willingness and flexibility to assist CRSS team as needed
