Job Summary

Support clients in accessing and maintaining SUD treatment while validating their progress and building recovery capital through shared connections. Assess individual needs daily, apply creative problem solving to changing demands, and bring concerns to the Case Manager for consultation. Respect client confidentiality regarding medical and financial data, help individuals meet weekly schedules and chores, and ensure recovery residence supplies are ordered and delivered on time. Collaborate with the Program Manager to maintain facility standards and track peer support care data. Follow the trauma-informed care model and uphold the California Department of Health and Services Medical Code of Ethics.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old or older
  • Possess a high school diploma, GED or equivalent or College Degree
  • Self-identifies as an individual with lived experience in SUD recovery
  • At least six-12 months of active recovery
  • Interested in providing a supportive environment to other individuals in recovery
  • Agree to uphold the California Department of Health and Services Medical Code of Ethics for Peer Support Specialists in California
  • Personality/style that offers warmth, structure, and firm boundaries
  • Time management skills
  • Responsible
  • Efficient
  • Discreet
  • Organized
  • Registration with a certifying organization as a Peer Support Specialist
