Job Summary
The Peer Support Specialist II provides coaching and mentoring to peers, supports recovery planning and job-search activities (including resume building), and advocates for participants' needs within a recovery-focused environment. This role partners with the clinical team to facilitate community integration, delivers recovery and life-skills instruction, and supports participant wellness, group activities, and compliance with policies. Responsibilities include mentoring new staff, documenting clinical notes as required, coordinating transportation to external resources, and developing peer-level curricula and group activities to support recovery goals. The position emphasizes experiential coaching, self-advocacy, and building connectedness in participants’ lives, with responsibilities across outpatient programs, collaboration with clinical teams, and ensuring safe, compliant service delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of Peer Employment Training thus obtaining Certification as a Peer Support Specialist required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years of full-time behavioral health experience
- Experience in community navigation, resume writing, curriculum development, and family peer support
- Additional training in peer-related topics required
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to pass seven-year background check
- Must be able to pass substance abuse testing and/or tuberculous testing (if applicable)
- Must be able to obtain designated fingerprinting clearance in applicable states
- Must be able to drive if driving is required for the position
