Job Summary
Peer Support Specialist I provides peer support and recovery training to individuals receiving services at the Crisis Care Center. The role engages individuals in a recovery partnership, teaches recovery and life skills using recovery tools, and models hope and self-advocacy to help individuals meet recovery goals. The specialist collaborates with the clinical team to arrange resources, ensures compliance with applicable regulations and policies, develops natural supports and community living, and maintains confidentiality. The position requires shift hours from 7:30am to 7:00pm on rotating days, full-time, and certification as a Peer Support Specialist. Topics include guest care, advocacy, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration; the role supports de-escalation, driving requirements if applicable, and ongoing professional development. Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of Peer Employment Training thus obtaining Certification as a Peer Support Specialist required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Lived experience requiring mental health and/or substance use services.
- Skills: Basic computer skills.
- Ability to teach/train recovery information and recovery tools.
- Effective communication skills.
- Must be able to pass de-escalation training, as defined by state requirements.
