Job Summary
Peer Support Specialist I provides peer-supported recovery training and advocacy to individuals in outpatient/community settings. Responsibilities include teaching recovery tools, helping identify goals and solutions, coordinating with clinical teams, developing natural supports and community living, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, maintaining clinical documentation, and assisting in creating a recovery environment. The role emphasizes guest care, advocacy, de-escalation, effective communication, and collaboration across disciplines, with duties that support recovery goals and rights of individuals. The position is part-time, non-exempt, in Wilmington, DE, with pay scaled by DE peer-certification status and a schedule involving days and every-other weekend shifts; travel and licensing/compliance requirements apply.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of Peer Employment Training thus obtaining Certification as a Peer Support Specialist required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience: Lived experience requiring mental health and/or substance use services
- Must be able to pass background check
- Must be able to pass substance abuse testing and/or tuberculous testing (if applicable)
- Must be able to obtain designated fingerprinting clearance in applicable states
