Job Summary
Peer Support Specialist I provides peer support and recovery training to individuals receiving services, assists in implementing a recovery environment, and advocates for the needs and rights of individuals. Responsibilities include engaging participants in recovery partnerships, teaching recovery and life skills using recovery tools, modeling hope and self-advocacy, developing natural supports and community living, cultivating connectedness, complying with regulations and policies, coordinating with a clinical team to arrange services, and performing related duties. Required Qualifications
- Valid Peer Support Certification
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience: Lived experience requiring mental health and/or substance use services
- Skills: Basic computer skills
- Ability to teach/train recovery information and recovery tools
- Effective communication skills
- Pass de-escalation training as defined by state requirements
- Must be able to pass background checks and driving records as applicable
- Must be 18 years old (or state-specific minimum)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality (HIPAA)
