Job Summary
Provide direct peer support using active listening and motivational interviewing for individuals in emotional or social crises. Assist clients during admissions, discharges, and outpatient intakes while completing required forms, interviews, and inventories. Facilitate daily client engagement activities, including check-ins and peer-led groups, and support meal preparation at Battelle House. Conduct mobile crisis calls, co-responses, and triage of incoming crisis calls, escalating to clinicians when necessary. Take vital signs upon admission and discharge, assist with medication administration and tracking, and help individuals navigate community resources. Advocate for client rights across settings and foster family support connections where clinically appropriate. Complete all documentation accurately and timely to support quality care and billing.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Lived experience with mental health, trauma, or related challenges
- Certification in Intentional Peer Support (IPS)
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Experience providing peer support
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and crisis intervention
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and de-escalation skills
- Organizational skills
- Experience with electronic records
- Ability to maintain emotional composure under stress
- Understanding of HIPAA, professional boundaries, and ethical standards
- Commitment to recovery-oriented, person-driven service models
