Job Summary
Peer Support Specialist/Counselor (Multilingual) supports families throughout Yamhill County by providing in-home peer-based support, guidance, and advocacy, and by facilitating parenting education groups. The role combines lived experience with professional skills to assess parental capacities related to child safety and well-being, help families overcome barriers, connect them to supportive services, and coordinate with DHS, schools, and other partners. Responsibilities include offering guidance in areas such as communication, home management, stress reduction, budgeting, and parenting strategies; ensuring culturally responsive and accessible services; and supporting childcare during sessions. The position is full-time (37.5 hours/week) with evening and some weekend hours, split between 22.5 hours as a Peer Support Specialist and 15 hours as a Parent Education Instructor. Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Travel throughout Yamhill County is expected. Requires a valid driver’s license, vehicle, and the ability to work a flexible schedule to meet families’ needs. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- one year of experience working with youth and families and facilitating parenting education groups or adult education workshops
- bilingual English/Spanish
- valid driver's license, car insurance, and reliable vehicle
- current certification as an Oregon Traditional Health Worker Peer Support Specialist, or completion within 60 days of hire, CPR & First Aid and Oregon Food Handler’s Card (or completion within 60 days)
