Job Summary
The Peer Support Specialist provides recovery-oriented services to individuals seeking peer supports, promoting independence and community integration. Key responsibilities include exemplifying recovery principles, coordinating with team members, ensuring compliance with Medicaid guidelines, and participating in meetings. Qualifications include a high school diploma, driver’s license, and self-identification as a person receiving mental health services or in recovery from a substance use disorder. Candidates must also be a certified Peer Specialist or eligible to attend training.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Driver’s license
- Self-identified person currently or formerly receiving mental health services
- Must be a certified Peer Specialist or meet training requirements
- Minimum of one year of sustained recovery from substance use and/or mental health conditions
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to provide peer delivered services as described in Medicaid guidelines
- Documentation compliance and alignment with organizational goals
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all regulatory and ethical standards
Additional Requirements
- Must have car insurance and be able to transport clients for appointments and community engagement
- If recovering from a substance-use disorder, must document continuous recovery under independent living conditions or recovery housing for the immediate past year
