Job Summary
Conduct outreach, engagement, support, advocacy, and direct services to program clients of all age ranges using personal lived experience in mental health, judicial, and social service systems. Serve as role models, companions, educators, and advocates to help clients move toward recovery and create meaningful roles separate from their illness. Provide pre-vocational or vocational counseling, substance use rehabilitation services, and daily exercise and health/wellness education within the Crisis Residential Treatment facility for adults aged 18-59. Work Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM in Joshua Tree, CA, requiring a valid California driver's license and First Aid certification.
Required Qualifications
- Self-identified personal experience as a consumer in the child welfare, probation, or mental health systems
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSET, etc.)
- One (1) year of full-time experience performing non-professional, consumer-directed services
- Valid California Driver's License with an eligible driving record per company policy
- First Aid certification from an approved provider (such as the American Red Cross) or obtained upon hire
- Tuesday - Saturday (10:00 PM - 6:30 AM) shift availability
- Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification preferred (or the ability to successfully complete the certification process within one year of employment)
