Job Summary
Facilitate group sessions and provide peer-based support to clients in the Acquired Brain Injury Transitional Housing program. Assist with life skills development, activities of daily living, and participation in recreational and social activities. Organize materials for group sessions, support team planning, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to manage client transitions and community outreach.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12
- Completion of a recognized Peer Support Training Program
- two (2) years recent, related experience providing support to individuals with mental health and substance use issues
- equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Valid B.C. Driver's License
- Knowledge of the principles of recovery
- Knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation methodology
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and to recognize and respond appropriately to the needs of the peers and consumers
- Ability to communicate effectively/tactfully both verbally and in writing
- Ability to organize and prioritize
- Ability to work under the pressure of interruptions and adapt to changes
- Ability to problem solve and take initiative
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to operate related equipment
- Basic computer literacy to operate computerized client care information system
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the job
- Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check
- all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections
