Job Summary
Interface with Probation/Parole representatives to encourage consumer compliance and facilitate communication. Act as an advocate for consumers, supporting self-advocacy efforts. Develop and facilitate peer support groups for agency consumers while creating individualized strategies to reduce negative consequences of drug use and medication non-compliance. Provide outreach intervention and referral services through home and group visits, distributing materials and prevention messages. Promote problem-solving and decision-making skills regarding drug use, sexual risk reduction, and medical treatment. Requires Howe the Harp or Peer Specialist training; CASAC credential and bilingual skills are a plus. Knowledge of the Harm Reduction Model is essential.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated of Howe the Harp or other Peer Specialist training program
- Knowledge of and commitment to Harm Reduction Model
Desired Qualifications
- High School degree preferred
- CASAC credential a plus
- Bilingual skills preferred
