Peer Specialist, Part Time (Crisis Center)

Job Summary
Promote self-determination, recovery, and self-advocacy by assisting individuals in identifying strengths, setting wellness goals, and developing personal self-management plans using strategies like IMR/WMR and WRAP. Engage clients in outpatient programs, support groups, and NA/AA meetings while modeling self-advocacy skills and sharing personal stories to foster stability. Provide education on benefits such as SSI, SSDI, and Medicaid; teach transportation and paperwork completion skills; and help individuals create crisis and safety plans. Support informed decisions regarding treatment, housing, and community connections while maintaining confidential records for funding sources. Participate in treatment team meetings, performance improvement activities, and AltaPointe committees as required.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Peer Specialist Certification through State of Alabama Department of Mental Health
- Ability to work as an effective team player
- Must be 23 years of age
- Valid Alabama driver license
- Acceptable driving record
- Proof of current liability insurance
