Job Summary

Provide peer counseling and support drawing on personal mental health experiences to validate consumers and empower individuals to exercise autonomy. Assist clients in identifying choices, developing self-advocacy skills, and creating self-management plans for recovery. Offer guidance, advocacy, and education during intake and transition processes while collaborating with the team to ensure person preferences drive all care. Promote hope through meetings and support, utilizing a strengths-based, culturally competent approach focused on rehabilitation. Maintain a team-based approach by actively participating in daily meetings and ensuring the individual remains central to all interventions. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a rotating 12 p. m. to 8 p. m. shift one day a week. Hourly rate: $23.08.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be either receiving services or received services in the past from the mental health system and have self-knowledge to manage their mental illness and be well along in their recovery
  • Experience with mental health and treatment
  • Empathetic and motivated to improve the lives of adults with mental illnesses
  • Driven and able to develop lasting relationships with both the people by drawing on their own mental health experiences
  • Valid Massachusetts drivers license
  • Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a standing 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. shift one day a week, rotating weekends
