Job Summary
Ohel is seeking a Peer Specialist to work with participants transitioning from hospital to community, utilizing lived experience to support recovery. Responsibilities include engaging participants in transition planning, conducting individual sessions to develop daily living skills and coping mechanisms, providing emotional and practical support, maintaining communication with community providers, and advocating for participants' goals. Candidates must have a high school diploma and be a certified peer specialist with lived mental health experience. Ideal candidates are self-starters capable of working independently and in a team.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- New York State Certified Peer Specialist required
- Must have lived experience with mental health
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in advocacy and behavioral health services preferred
- Ability to use personal story for empowerment and recovery
- Excellent follow-up skills
