Job Summary
Support individuals in recovery by modeling resilience, promoting symptom management skills, and assisting clients in achieving personal treatment goals. Advocate for clients while helping them identify strengths, connect with peer support groups, and maintain paid employment. Offer interventions through shared lived experiences and facilitate community dialogues to reduce stigma. Start and sustain mutual support groups while teaching problem-solving strategies and following through on wellness plans. Complete required Peer Specialist training and adhere to the Missouri Peer Specialist Code of Ethics and MTBH policies.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Life story of recovery from a mental health condition and/or substance use disorder
- Applicable training and testing as required by Department of Mental Health
- Certification as a Missouri Peer Specialist
