Job Summary
Provide peer-to-peer support and share common experiences to assist individuals in recovery within Residential Services. Facilitate care planning, community orientation/integration, and support groups; provide transportation as needed, and participate in required training and supervision. Engage in activities to further the NYS Certified Peer Specialist credential, advocate for clients, communicate clearly with active listening, and apply recovery-oriented approaches while respecting diversity. Role may be part-time or full-time in a 7+ grade program, with duties including representing the agency in the community and coordinating with other service providers; requires high school diploma or GED and lived experience with behavioral health services. Regularly interact with individuals receiving support and perform related duties as directed by supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Lived experience with Behavioral Health Services
- Ability to advocate for self and others
- Ability to communicate clearly, including active listening
- Knowledge of recovery approaches
- The ability to climb stairs, bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach and lift items weighing 40 lbs.
- Ability to legally operate a vehicle in NY State
