Job Summary
The Peer Specialist provides peer support, case management, and advocacy for program Residents, drawing on personal recovery experience to support residents in identifying life choices and achieving goals. Responsibilities include conducting routine room checks and addressing resident concerns, coordinating with building staff, providing transportation when needed, promoting a recovery-focused, inclusive culture, addressing stigma related to substance use and homelessness, serving as a liaison to self-help groups and community resources, maintaining resident confidentiality, gathering and responding to client feedback, documenting in HMIS, participating in staff meetings, and delivering direct client care for a minimum of 50% of working time. The role requires completion of internal credentialing and privileging, and adherence to COVID-19 vaccination expectations, with a focus on trauma-informed, resident-centered service delivery in a transitional housing setting.
Required Qualifications
- Must pass CBI check
- Must adhere to Agency’s non-discrimination policies
- Valid driver’s license required
- Must be able to work under stressful conditions, work variable hours and be available 24/7 to respond to crises
- Bilingual preferred
- Must complete credentialing and privileging process prior to start date
- Experience as a recipient of substance abuse treatment, mental health, or homelessness services is preferred
- Knowledge of homelessness support programs and recovery concepts
