Job Summary
The Peer Specialist role focuses on supporting individuals experiencing psychiatric diagnoses, trauma, homelessness, or substance use challenges by using lived experiences to advocate and connect them with community resources. Responsibilities include facilitating mutual support and self-help groups, promoting the voice of the person receiving services, and developing programs that support recovery goals. Ideal candidates must possess lived experience in relevant areas, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Required Qualifications
- Must have direct lived experience with psychiatric diagnoses, trauma histories, homelessness, problems with substance and/or other life-disrupting events
- Strong interpersonal skills and empathy for others
- Ability to work well within a team model and independently
