Job Summary
Conduct community outreach and provide education to reduce stigma around substance use disorder and mental health. Engage clients and their families to receive behavioral health services and identify individuals eligible for CCBHC support. Provide NARCAN education kits and liaise with the community for appropriate care referrals. Assist program staff in driving the Outreach minivan. Requires OMH New York Certified Peer Specialist certification, lived experience with substance use or mental health challenges, and a clean driving record. Full-time, 35 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- Travel within NYC required
- High School Diploma/GED
- 2 years' work or volunteer experience in a recovery-oriented setting
- OMH – New York Certified Peer Specialist – Provisional (NYCPS-P) or New York Certified Peer Specialist (NYCPS)
Desired Qualifications
- Lived experience with and knowledge of the challenges pertaining to substance use and / or mental health conditions
