Job Summary
Peer Recovery Support Specialist uses lived experience with substance use to mentor and provide emotional support to pregnant, postpartum, and parenting individuals at risk for substance misuse. Responsibilities include outreach and engagement, connecting families to community resources (food, clothing, housing, utilities, and emergency supports), coordinating with treatment services through warm handoffs, maintaining ongoing support during recovery pathways, assisting with Family Care Plans (FCP), and ensuring equitable, non-discriminatory interactions. The role involves up to 50% field travel, work in office settings, and remote work across Cotton, Jefferson, and Stephens counties in Southwest Oklahoma, with responsibilities including staff trainings, professional development, and adherence to safety and privacy standards. Requires certification as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist within six months of hire and a valid driver’s license with automobile liability insurance; background checks and vaccinations per policy are required; expect varying schedules including evenings and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English
- Basic computer skills including email and navigating information technology; familiarity with Electronic Health Record tools
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication; ability to adapt procedures and tools
- Advanced fingerprint background checks required
- Reliable transportation; valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience living with a substance use disorder
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Docs
