Job Summary
Provide one-on-one peer support to individuals with substance use disorders, utilizing lived experience to establish trust and encourage hope. Assist clients in identifying recovery goals, facilitating peer groups, and linking them to community resources for housing, employment, and healthcare. Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure comprehensive care, maintain accurate confidential records, and participate in case meetings and supervision. This role requires weekend coverage and leverages personal recovery experience to guide clients through challenges and relapse prevention.
Required Qualifications
- Lived experience in recovery from substance use disorder (SUD) or addiction
- A High school diploma
- Experience working in a behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment setting
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles and practices
- Must pass all Federal and State background checks
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds
- Must be available for weekend coverage
Desired Qualifications
- Peer Support Specialist certification (e.g., Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, CPRS, or similar)
- An associate's degree in a Healthcare related field
- Knowledge of the 12-step program and other recovery methodologies
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries while offering empathy and support
- Ability to work with diverse populations, including individuals with complex needs
- Basic knowledge of community resources for individuals in recovery (housing, employment, legal, healthcare, etc.)
- Experience facilitating group support or recovery meetings
- Bilingual in [language] (if applicable)
