Job Summary
Provide peer support, outreach, and recovery-based services to individuals transitioning from hospitalization to the community and those facing mental health or substance use challenges. Serve as a consumer advocate within the agency and community; educate consumers and families on recovery principles and peer support services; participate in treatment team meetings and recovery planning; accompany clients to appointments and assist with accessing community resources; support clients in developing treatment goals and recovery plans; help individuals build natural supports and strengthen community connections; maintain accurate documentation and records; share personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and resilience.
Required Qualifications
- Personal experience as a consumer of mental health and/or substance abuse services
- Combination of education and experience equivalent to at least 3 years in: Human Services, Mental Health, Substance Abuse Services, Peer Support or Advocacy Programs, Consumer-Run Organizations
- Valid Virginia or North Carolina Driver's License
